Behind the Scenes: Ballard
Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 4:30AM
Aaahhh Ballard...the Scandinavian capital of Washington State, complete with Freia Melkesjokolade, lutafisk and the Sons of Norway. Ok, ok...that's not the only thing Ballard is good for. It's also great for a quick, laidback photoshoot of some friends. The concept? Meet at Cupcake Royale and head out to see what we could find. Again, with the weather not cooperating, we made the best of it and even got lucky finding out one of the guys had a legit gold, 1988 Volvo 760 Turbo Station Wagon. With a few prop and a fast fading light, we made the best of it and came out with some great frames. The group was super chill and natural, which made it easy when creating a scene, as it usually happened organically.
Going after a 1970's saturated, greenish blue, contrasty tone but airing on the side of warmth, we came out the other side with a simple and effective process that we applied across the board, achieving the perfect look.
I hope you enjoy what you see! For more images of the Ballard shoot and other projects check out my Photography page, RamblingsAndArt.com, and ThePhotoCollab.com.
